Obituary of Joan Frances Putney

Joan Frances Putney (nee D'Iorio) passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024. Joan was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 20, 1933. Joan's parents are the late Jean and Joseph D'Iorio of Providence RI. Joan was married to the late Robert Frederick Putney for 51 years until Bob's passing in 2008. Bob was a Colonel in the Air Force and Joan and Bob traveled throughout the US with their three children. Joan was a resourceful Air Force wife making a home for her family in 8 different locations often on her own due to Bob flying all across the country and the world as a pilot. She was very social, making friends wherever they traveled. She loved to play bridge, golf, walk and antique hunt. Joan was also a voracious reader and a fabulous crossword puzzler. Later in her life Joan went back to college and graduated with a BA with distinction from San Jose State University. After all the kids left home, Joan and Bob enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Joan leaves behind her children Mark Robert Putney (Tami), Bethany Jean Mayer (Dale Jantzen) and Christopher Todd Putney (Kathy) along with 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and one on the way. Joan was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was well loved and will be terribly missed.
