Obituary of Nicole Abigail Koteles

On December 11, 2023, Nicole Abigail Koteles, 19, passed away in Hollister, California. Despite her life being cut short, our memories of her and spirit continue in all of us. Her soul endured so much for a short time, innocent in all matters. Nicole was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 3rd, 2004, to Michael Roy Koteles Jr and Adelina Sabornido Koteles while her parents were stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. Nicole, being a military brat, lived in many locations in her short life. She was initially living in Las Vegas, NV, then Tucson, AZ, then San Antonio, TX, then Vacaville, CA, then Salinas, CA, and finally in Hollister, CA.  Despite her short life, Nicole was well-traveled having been to Florida, Michigan, Alaska, and the Dominican Republic. Additionally, she traveled to the Philippines for 3 different summers meeting her extended family. She went initially to Salinas High School and later Hollister High School graduating in 2022.  She loved doing Doordash with her older sister Amanda, spending many hours driving around Salinas. Amanda and Nicole loved to blast their music driving around town. She worked as a cashier and in food service. Her first job was at Jack in the Box, then Dollar Tree, and finally at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Nicole was free-spirited and was adamant about expressing herself through her makeup designs. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to music. She enjoyed playing video games and developed many friendships doing so. She was an excellent cheerleader for football games in middle school.  She enjoyed hanging out at the skate park with her friends on evenings and weekends.  She enjoyed home-cooked meals brought to her room by her mother. Having an enormous heart, she regularly thought of the less fortunate in her community, often buying snacks at Dollar Tree and giving them to homeless people outside her store.  She was quite funny, often making silly statements, such as saying she wanted a career earning money from rewards for finding lost cats and dogs in her community.  She enjoyed eating rice cakes, ice cream, and pizza and loved Sprite.  She spent time with her dog, Mango, who helped comfort her. And above all, her favorite thing to do was spend her most valuable time with her best friend, her loving sister, Amanda. They loved going to various malls together and going out to eat.  Nicole is survived by her sister Amanda Marie Koteles of Fresno, CA, brother, Michael Adam Koteles of Hollister, CA, father, Michael Roy Koteles Jr of Hollister, CA, mother Adelina Sabornido Koteles of Hollister, CA, grandfather Michael Roy Koteles, grandfather, Alfredo Sabornido from Lawigue, Philippines, grandmother, Esabelita Sabornido from Lawigue, Philippines and, many aunts and uncles in the US and Philippines.  She is preceded in death by her grandmother Sharon Lynn Koteles. The funeral Service will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes on December 21st at XX:XX with Pastor Gary Cech of Grace Community Christian Fellowship officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint Township, Michigan.  Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home on (date) at (time), Sharp Funeral Homes will be handling the funeral arrangements.
