Obituary of Enes Marie Vallejo

Enes Marie Naccarato Vallejo (1933-2023) Enes Vallejo, 89, Passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital Hollister CA surrounded by her family. She was born on November 9, 1933 in Figline Vegliaturo, Calabria, Italy. At age two, the family emigrated to Quebec, Canada. Enes would frequently recall and speak of the incredibly cold and bitter winters with 10 to 12 foot snow drifts which would prevent her from getting to church on Sundays, this resulted in being disciplined at school the next Monday....and a lifelong dislike of snow. Enes and family then immigrated to the United States ultimately settling in Hollister CA in 1946 where she resided for the duration of her life. Enes attended Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and San Benito High School. Enes married the love of her life, Cecil Vallejo, on September 20, 1953 and raised three children. Enes and Cecil recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Enes had an unwavering devotion to her Catholic faith and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her commitment to her faith included a 55 year membership with Young Ladies Institute Catholic organization. In her later high school years, Enes worked at the State Theater on Main Street. She was then employed at Bank of America after high school until she and Cecil started their family. They owned and operated a small local corner grocery store where she helped out when possible. After her children all started school, Enes began her career at Fremont Elementary School where she worked until her retirement in 1991. In her early years Enes was an avid and competitive bowler and softball player. She was a friend to many and had a big heart. She was loved and widely respected by all. Enes was very mild mannered until her Italian temper flared, just ask Cecil. Enes was proceeded in death by her Father Carmine Naccarato, Mother Ada Naccarato, sister Rita Bowling, and daughter Bobbie Burnham.
