Obituary of MariaLuisa Hernandez Thomas
MariaLuisa (Lulu) Thomas passed away surrounded by friends and family the evening of September 26th, 2023. Words cannot describe the loving void she leaves as we remember her unbound zest for life. She was beautiful, strong, generous, and goofy. She was the best friend to her husband Mark for thirty wonderful years, the most loving and fun Mom to her two children, and a friend to so many more.
Maria was born in Imus, Cavite, Philippines to Pablo and Anicia Hernandez. After completing college in Manila, she moved to the United States in 1988. She established her roots in Fremont, California where she eventually met the love of her life. After four years of dating and buying their first house in Hollister, Lou and Mark eloped in Lake Tahoe on May 28th, 1993.
Lou and Mark had five years of adventures before starting a family and becoming a homemaker in 1998, with Matthew, and Mackenzie in 2001. Family and friends can attest to her supportive, encouraging, generous, and kind nature. She was immensely involved in her children’s extracurricular activities, going above and beyond to ensure that her children received the utmost support. She loved gardening, scrapbooking, traveling, and taking care of her family and friends.
Lulu always put others before herself and will be remembered as a selfless and altruistic wife and mother. There is not enough space in this obituary to properly encapsulate the person Lulu was nor how much she meant to so many people.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Thomas, son Matthew Thomas, and daughter Mackenzie Thomas.
If you desire to honor Lulu by making a donation in her name, the family requests that you please make it to the Joe Niekro Foundation by going online to https://www.joeniekrofoundation.com/ways-to-give/general-donation/.
