Obituary of Beverly Jean Rodgers

Beverly Jean Rodgers, age 92 of Hollister, California passed away on July 10, 2023 in Gilroy, California. Bev was born in Hollister, California to Frank and Ann DeRosa on November 11, 1930. She graduated from San Benito High School and attended San Benito Junior College. She worked as a service representative for Pacific Bell and later worked as a public school librarian where she shared her love of reading with students. She retired as librarian from R.O. Hardin School. Bev married R.C. Rodgers on Easter Sunday and they were married 2 months short of 60 years when he passed in 2010. He was the love of her life and they enjoyed many years trailer traveling together and exploring the United States. They would spend weeks at a time at Topaz Lake where they fished daily. They were also fond of cruising to such places as Hawaii, Alaska, the Mississippi River and the Panama Canal. She was an avid Oakland A’s fan and they would travel to Arizona each year to watch spring training. Bev loved her family fiercely and supported them in every way possible. She trusted in her faith and consistently encouraged her family to “make memories”. We are so grateful for all the memories we have of you, Mom, Grandma and Gigi. Bev is survived by her daughter Denise Thome and son-in-law Jerry Thome of San Juan Bautista. Grandson Nathan Thome and wife Sara of Morgan Hill. Grandson Kevin Thome and girlfriend Chandler Williams of San Rafael. Great Grandchildren Ella Thome, Logan Thome and Dexter Thome of Morgan Hill. She is preceded in death by her husband R.C. Rodgers, her son Don Rodgers, her parents Frank and Ann DeRosa and her sister Elizabeth “Betty” DeRosa. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 26, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Paine’s Restaurant in Hollister, California. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
