dear Bluff family
geetha and i met John to help us build our first home in Greenridge, la canada in 1985
he was an amazing gentleman and contractor. he was very clear on his responsibilities and that of other professionals.
two things stand out
1. he paid his subcontractors, as soon as they billed every week
2. he had a cleaning person who came around every evening at 330 pm and cleaned the construction site, so well, u can sit on the floor and chat
he built houses that looked good and felt good. he stood by his construction years after the warranty was over. his advice was always welcome
he introduced us to Bob O'Connar who did an excellant job with our interior design
we love him so much he loved everyone
we are sure all of u will miss him for a long time.
he lived a good useful life, and his structures will live forever
with love

Dear "Cousins"
Aside from the wonderful memories of visiting the Bluffs on Princess Anne Rd. as children, it is amazing to reflect on the one man that shaped a young persons life. We always knew "Uncle Jack" was in construction and flew helicopters and that was about all we knew, until 1985...
That is when John and Ray got together and convinced me and my brother to give construction a try. Needless to say, almost 40 years later, construction has provided a wonderful and accomplished life to two of Johns relatives. There have not been many days over my 37 year career that I haven't thought of John and the many lessons he taught me. Some of the memories are of tough love, but love nonetheless. When I think back I have countless fond memories of John and he will never be forgotten.
With Love,
Greg O'Connor

Dear Margaret,
I wish there was something I could say to make this difficult time easier for you.
I hope you’re knowing that John led a full and wonderful life with you by his side will give you some comfort.
Dominic and I were so fortunate to have John build the addition to our home. We always have a part of him with us. The many fond memories of that experience always makes us smile.
I wish I had Dominic’s words to articulate how much John meant to him through their friendship from boyhood into their adult life- although thinking about when they were together they still acted like boys, always messing around. That and John’s sweet smile and kindness are the memories I treasure.
With much love,
The Sampognas -
Sharon, Michele, Nicole, Chantal & Dominic too

I met John on my first day at the Sheriff's Aero Bureau September 12th, 1971. I flew helicopter patrol with him as an observer and co-pilot on rescue missions in the San Gabriel Mountains in the Sikorsky CH 34 on many rescue missions. Seeing his passion to build custom homes and commercial buildings in the La Canada area, I partnered with John on several projects. We would drive around in his Silverado truck to checkout job sites and new opportunities. We would have breakfast together each morning until he moved to Hollister. A fling partner, business partner and good friend will surely be missed. R.I.P. my friend!

Dear Margaret and All the Wonderful Bluffs~
We are keeping you in our hearts and prayers, and sharing in the sadness of John's loss. He was truly "one of a kind' and will be deeply missed by us and so many others. As Best Man at our wedding 45 years ago, he became friend, construction boss:), mentor and advisor. Thank you John and Margaret for embracing us as family, and for all the wonderful memories through the years. We will remember John's sense of humor, his "half laugh," and how well he could rock a pair of Levi's and a Hawaiian Shirt!
Love,
Walt, Mila and the Bouman Clan
