Jeanette was my big sister, I her little brother, and even at the time of our ninth decade of life it still feels that way. Because we lived far apart for most of our adult life, we saw each other infrequently - it takes a while to get used to the fact that Jeanette 'isn't' anymore. However, we were very close and talked on phone twice a month, and Jack as well. Jeanette and I were both adopted, and agreed that we had fallen into a vat of honey by being chosen by Jack and Velma Heinen - the best parents possible. She loved the fact that her Los Angles adoption cost $27.00 and my Denver adoption cost $13.00, less than half. I claimed that this represented differences in local economies. She, however, insisted it was based on the quality of the merchandise.
