Laura M. Lopez passed away on January 5, 2023, at the age of 64 in Hollister, CA, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Laura was born in Watsonville, CA, to Daniel and Susan Mesa on February 8, 1958. She grew up in San Juan Bautista where she attended grammar school. She then went to San Benito High School where she graduated in 1976. She went on to earn her AA at Gavilan College. In 1978, she married her husband Bobby Lopez, and they were married for 44 years. She worked as a Receptionist for Dassel’s Petroleum for 20+ years. She then retired in late 2020. She enjoyed the lights of her life-her 4 grandchildren. She loved going to the beach, especially Pismo Beach, which was her happy place. She loved going to sporting events like the San Francisco 49er games, San Jose & San Francisco Giants games. She also loved watching Tiger Woods play golf. She enjoyed getting together with her family and compadres. She enjoyed going on motorcycle bike rides with her husband and friends. She loved to travel even though she didn’t like to fly. She enjoyed being in the yard and gardening. Laura was never one to just sit and relax; she was always on the go and doing something. She was also a member of the San Juan VFW Auxiliary post 6359 formally known as the Ladies Auxiliary. Laura was preceded in death by her son Matthew and parents Daniel and Susan Mesa. Laura is survived by her husband Bobby of Hollister, daughter Michelle Perez (Jess), brothers David (Marylu) of Prunedale, CA, Paul (Denise) of Granite Bay, CA, and sister Diane of San Juan Bautista, CA, Brothers-in-Law Frank "Kiko" Sanchez and Joey Patino; Sisters-in-Law Stephanie Sanchez and Patsy Patino and her grandchildren: United States Army SPC Jess Perez, Jr., Matthew, Noah, and Alexander, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren. Funeral services will be held at Mission San Juan Bautista on January 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at San Juan Bautista Cemetery. Reception to follow. **Family will be holding a private viewing. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Matt Lopez Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Community Foundation of San Benito County. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Maria Martinez for all the help and care that she provided to Laura these past few years.
