Obituary of Nicholas Ferrero

Nicholas Victor Ferrero, age 93, passed away on Thursday, December 23rd, 2022. Nick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Nick was born and raised in Southern California, There, he met his wife, Betty. After a three-month courtship, they were married on February 18, 1949. Following his marriage, Nick’s intrinsic love of children, teaching, and learning led him back to college. He went to school during the day and worked in a steel mill at night. He received his BA in Education at the University of La Verne and an MA in School Administration from California State University, Long Beach. In his career as a teacher, Nick taught 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade. At the age of 31, he became the principal at James Madison Elementary School. At the time, he was the youngest appointed principal in the Anaheim School District. In 1970 Nick moved his family to Hollister, Ca. where he had accepted the job as principal at Sunnyslope Elementary School. He remained with the Hollister School District until his retirement in 1989. In retirement, Nick and his wife loved traveling in their RV, playing Pedro, and making woodcrafts. They also enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nick is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty Ferrero, and his children; Sandra Ferrero (Charlie Gustafson), Nikki Morejon (Dale), and Terry Ferrero (Launna). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jason Ferrero (Lacey), Jessica Rianda (Jason), Shawna Forteamo (Brian), Lester Gustafson (Adrienne), Samantha Warner (Ben), Michelle Morejon, and Nick Gustafson. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Josephine Ferrero, his sisters, Mary Jo Pierce and Rose Ferrero, and his brother-in-law, Les Pierce. Due to allergies and sensitivities, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or your local Hospice organization.
