Obituary of Arleen Ramona Howell
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Arleen Howell on October 16th, 2022.
Arleen was born in Denver, Colorado on May 9th, 1948 to Rita and Richard Hawk. She grew up and graduated from Arapaho High school in Littleton, CO in 1966 and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. Following college, she worked for Martin Marietta in Denver. She held a variety of administrative positions before moving to California in 1975. Arleen was actively involved in the construction, opening, and operation of the Newark Fremont Hilton and the John Muir Inn in Napa, CA from 1983 to 1992. She retired in 1998 as an Administrative Supervisor for a company in Concord, CA.
Arleen and her family lived in Mission Viejo, CA before moving to Fremont in 1978 where they lived for 20 years before retiring to Hollister, CA in 1998 settling in Ridgemark. Arleen enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and traveling. She was active in the Ridgemark Ladies Club serving on the Board in several positions. Arleen made many friends and when not playing golf, bridge, or traveling; she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Arleen had a big and caring heart. She will always hold a place in the hearts of her friends, Bob (husband of 46 years), Ron Hawk (brother), and her children, Dawn Osborne (husband Jim), Jennifer Thon, Doug Howell (wife Veronica), Lynn Evans (husband Frank) and her grandchildren Emily Thon, Madison Thon, Haley Osborne, Sarah Osborne, Kailee Fodge (husband Matt), Emily Evans, and great-granddaughter Millie Grace Fodge. May she rest in peace in the house of the Lord.
A memorial service will be held at Grunnagle Funeral Home, 870 San Benito St., Hollister, CA on November 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception at 12:30 p.m. at Paine’s Restaurant, 421 East St., Hollister, CA.
