Robert AKA “, Grandpa Postigo, Baba and Number 1 Hammer” Postigo 69, of Hollister, Ca. passed away on October 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by people he loved after his journey with cancer.
Robert was born October 8, 1952, to Joe and Anne Postigo. He attended local schools, Gavilan College, and went on to obtain his degree from Chico State. Robert came back to Hollister, where he continued to grow the construction business as Robert L. Postigo Construction. Robert was in the construction business for over 40 years and mentored many successful contractors of today. During high school Robert also worked in construction with his Dad, Joe Postigo, and part time at the local cannery during tomato production season. Robert was the old time handshake type of person, his word was his word and he found happiness and pride in doing the job correctly. In his later years of construction, Postigo Construction was the go to for Hollister Super’s remodels. Jim Gibson and Robert developed a very close relationship.
Robert and Susan Martin-Postigo were married on July 26, 2001, in Lahaina Maui. Robert and Susan loved to travel with friends, taking cruises, returning to Maui every year, attending football games going on car cruises, and of course going to his favorite place Chukchansi Casino, where he could spend hours on the poker machines. Robert was a faithful Dodger fan and enjoyed going boating with his family and friends, including his annual fishing derby trip to Bass Lake with long time friend Gary Edmundson.
In the past Robert was a member of the Contractors Association, the CSDC, currently Hollister Elks Club, and The Boosters, and served as a board member for the Sociedad Espanola de San Benito, as well he assisted with many activities with Growing Hearts, Hope Rehabilitation and very much enjoyed being around the special need’s group of individuals. One of the proudest moments in Robert’s life began on April 27, 2010, when his 1st grandson Emilio was born, and then again on February 12, 2013 when Marcos was born. He absolutely adored those two boys. He would assist in anything they needed, helping with fundraisers, helping with rides to therapies, and picking up from school. He absolutely loved being a “Grandpa Postigo”.
