Monica and I were neighbors on Arena Way, many years ago. I moved east and lost touch. This holiday season I thought I would like to give her call; I was shocked to see that she had passed away over a year ago. I remember her as a kind and thoughtful neighbor, and friend. My sympathies, late as they are, to Bob, Tara and Ryan.

Monica and I shared many fun times as girls. We used to walk across El Segundo and meet in the middle to go watch baseball games at rec park or weed go to RB's for ice cream. One Friday, we decided we wanted to go to Big Sur (hundreds of miles from our hometown). We got my sister involved because she had a driver's license. Monica called her mom and my sister and I left a note and if we went. What a trip that was! As adults we lived to talk about books and our kids. I'll miss you Monica.

Dear Duffy Family,
I had the great pleasure of working with Monica at Rancho and Maze. Together, we helped many students increase their literacy skills. We had so much fun working together and with the students. When the two of us were working the room, the students could feel the positive vibes we were sending out about how fun learning could be. I’m sure she is sending positive vibes throughout the universe right now! Monica will always hold a special place n my heart.

Bob, Ryan, Tara & Mic,
Sending our sincere condolences to you and your family. We will deeply miss Monica. Our families have known each other since we moved in 23 plus years ago. We had many laughs, jokes and conversations with each other. Especially her and David. He was her green thumb, her bush cutter and her bbq person. Our kids always looked forward to the many books you shared with them. We spent many 4th of July’s in the cul de sac get togethers. My favorite time was when all of us girls got talked into singing karaoke at The Metzler’s and we sang one of Diana Ross’s songs. We laughed so hard. Or our times we all would visit with each other in the middle of the cul de sac. We all will cherish these memories. Thank you for welcoming our family in when we first moved in. Your wife, mom was a kind person and welcomed anyone she came across. And would help anyone who needed it with kind words etc.. so for now so long our dear friend. We are sending our love and prayers to you and your family.

My beautiful sister, devoted mother to her kids, wife/partner/friend to her awesome husband for nearly fifty years. I always admired (and yes, envied) her wit and great personality (she made me laugh so much through the years). Bob, Ryan and Tara - Mon had a beautiful life because of you guys (and as we know she loved, enjoyed, and was grateful for everything). Bob, Ryan, Tara and Mick, My sister just called me to tell me about Monicas' passing. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We had so many good times with eachother and your family when we lived next door on Arena Way!!! I have so many good memories of our families and playing with you kids in the cul-de-sac. I have many videos of you guys. I just need to get them transferred on something more modern we can watch them on. Praying for peace for all of you. My heart is heavy.

My condolences to Bob and the rest of Duffy family. I knew Monica when she worked for the Hollister School District and would run into her when I was doing my deliveries to the school sites. She was always a kick to talk to. May she rest in peace.
