Obituary of Marian Lomanto Falconi
Marian Lomanto Falconi was born May 21, 1932. She and her twin sister Marie were the youngest of the seven children of Peter and Clara (Filice) Lomanto, whose families came to America as immigrants from Italy in order to provide a better life for themselves. She grew up on the family orchard in the Ausaymas area of San Benito County and was a lifelong resident of Hollister.
Upon graduation from San Benito High School in 1951, Marian went to work for the Western Guarantee Title Company starting as an office clerk. As the company grew, changed names and staff, Marian remained and became a very knowledgeable and popular escrow agent. She was a key member of their staff for over 40 years.
In December 1955 she married the love of her life, Richard Falconi whose family were also orchardists in the Hollister area. She and Richard lived on his family’s ranch on Santa Ana Road prior to moving to Ridgemark Golf and Country Club upon Richard’s retirement. They were both active golfers. Marian was one of the original president’s of the Ridgemark Ladies Golf Club along with her sister Lucy Intravia and her sister-in-law Dorothy Lomanto all of whom were avid golfers at both Ridgemark and Bolado Golf Club.
She and Richard were renowned for their love of baking biscotti (on a daily basis) and making their family recipe of ravioli by the hundreds which were generously shared and enjoyed by many of their family and friends especially over the holidays – Marian loved entertaining especially at Christmas time. As her brothers and sisters passed, she was the one who made sure her nieces and nephews had a place to celebrate the holidays amongst family.
Not long after Richard’s death in 2011 Marian herself started having health issues that would forever change her vibrant life. On October 20th, 2016 Marian succumbed with the vision and knowledge that she would be reunited with Richard and their surrogate children, their beloved terriers Cindy and Scotty.
Marian was preceded in death by her brothers; Tony, Sam and Carmen Lomanto and their respective spouses; sisters Lucy Intravia and Marie De Rosa and their husbands; her brothers-in-law Eddie and Louis Falconi and sister-in-law Sylvia Falconi. She is survived by her brother John Lomanto and his wife ‘Babe’ and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks and acknowledgment to her caregiver Rocio Bermudez and her husband Jose who were there for her care and needs.
Services will be held Thursday, October 27th at 11:00 at Grunnagle Mortuary and Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery followed by a celebration of her life. Donations can be made to the organization of your choice.
