Obituary of Genevieve Rende

Genevieve Rende, age 94, daughter of well-known Hollister businessman, Samuel Rende and his wife, Virginia, passed away after a brief illness at Hazel Hawkins Hospital in Hollister, CA on Sunday evening, June 5, 2022. Genevieve was born in 1927 in Hollister, CA. She graduated from San Benito High School in 1947 where she was active on the cheerleading squad for the Hay Balers and went on to attend college in Fresno, CA. She worked for the Department of Corrections (California Youth Authority) for over 30 years before retiring. Gen was a loving and generous daughter, sister, and aunt who doted on her family, especially her nieces and nephew. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crafts, and entertaining family and friends at home. She is survived by brothers, James Rende (wife Lenore) of Murrieta, CA and Roland Rende (wife Palmina) of Salinas, CA., nieces, Marijeanne Rende of Danville, CA and Lizbeth Coleman (husband Randall) of Sacramento, CA, nephew Jonathan Rende (wife Lily) of Redwood City, CA , and grand nieces Victoria Coleman, and Toni and Shelby Rende. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Virginia Rende, both of Hollister, CA. A memorial service will take place for close family and friends on Wednesday, June 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel on Hillcrest Road in Hollister. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jovenes De Antano (Meals on Wheels Program) of San Benito County or the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) of Monterey County.
