Obituary of James Anthony Hayhurst

Life-long San Benito County resident James “Jimmy” Anthony Hayhurst passed away peacefully in Hollister, California, on April 25th, 2022, at the age of 49 years old. Jimmy attended elementary school at Sacred Heart Parish School and graduated from Palma High School in 1990. He then furthered his education at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, where he was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Jimmy began working with his father at the age of 9 in commercial tomato harvesting. At the age of 22, he invested in his own tomato machine and started his own business, which he proudly maintained for the rest of his life. Jimmy had a true passion for hunting and being outdoors with his loved ones, which resulted in many great adventures and wild stories. In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed barbequing for his friends, family, and the community. He was happiest when listening to music, playing pool and cards with his buddies, watching the Raiders play, and living life to the fullest. Jimmy will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered as “the life of the party”, a generous friend, and an adoring father. Jimmy is survived by his children, Maggie Hayhurst and James Hayhurst, his mother, Esther Hayhurst (of Hollister, CA), and his father, Jim Hayhurst (of Wilder, ID). Family and friends are invited to a Mass of the Resurrection held on Monday, May 16th, at St. Benedict's Church at 1:00 p.m.
