Larry E. Amelio, 73 of Hollister CA, suddenly left us on April 14th in Hollister CA. Larry will be the first one to proudly announce that he was born in Hollister to his parents Nina and Larry Amelio on Feb. 19, 1949. He attended Monterey High School where he was a proud member of the Torreadore Marching Band and graduated in 1967. He went on to earn an AA degree from MPC, and then studied Business and Anthropology at San Jose State. After marrying the love of his life Joan in 1972, Larry made Gilroy his home but managed Beneficial Finance in Hollister and went on to own Larry’s Liquors and Videos for a number of years. Finally, he spent the last 18 years of his career at Santa Cruz Police Department, where he made a number of friends, until his retirement in 2020. Larry is survived by his wife, Joan, son Nicholas (Maria) and granddaughter Melissa, his mother Kathy, his brother Joe (Tawny), sister in law Gloria, brothers in law Albert (Alice ) and Paul. Larry adored his nieces, nephews and cousins and all of their children. He will be dearly missed by his dog Pablo who he loved unconditionally. He is preceded in death by his Parents Larry and Nina, and his sister Maryanne. Larry was loved by many and respected by everyone who knew him. His gentle spirit will live on. He could easily put a smile on everyone’s face with his quick wit and humor. He loved his family dearly and we will miss him every day until we meet again. Rest easy my Angel and watch over us until we meet again. In memory of Larry if you so choose, please consider a gift in his memory to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
