Obituary of John Charles Simms

California native, John Charles Simms passed away in Hollister, California on March 19, 2022 at the age of 78 years. John was born in Burbank, California in April of 1943.He attended local schools until the family relocated to the Bay Area in 1959 to West San Jose. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1960. John entered the U.S. Navy in 1962. He was an Aviation Machinist Mate Reciprocating. He was invited to become a member of the US Navy Shooting Team in 1964. He won the State Championship in 1965; the first of numerous shooting awards and championships that he would win over the coming years. After his honorable discharge in 1965 he returned to the Bay Area. He was working at G & H Sports Center in Hayward when he met his wife to be, Elena Beth Simms. They were married in 1968. John and Elena started their family in 1970 and raised two sons; Jason and Brandon. John is survived by his sons Jason (Sherry), Brandon (Karla), Mark; and daughter Jobain (David); Grandchildren: Faith, Dominic, Sabrina, Crystal, Darrin, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Dillon, Olivia, Blake, Logan and Nolan; Great-Grandchildren: Alelia, Barrett and Jasper. He is also survived by two very supportive brothers Mark and Scott; as well as his previous wife Claudia. He was predeceased by Liz and Chuck Simms. John was a truly remarkable man and he will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will follow
