Obituary of Guillermina Tijerina Gonzalez

Our beloved mother, Guillermina “Mina” Tijerina Gonzalez, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA. on March 11, 2022, at 6:10 am. Mom was predeceased by her son Francisco and survived by her children, Sabas, Arnulfo, Rosa Maria, Jose Armando and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Family was her life and she cherished get togethers, always eager for the next occasion. She was born in Cuidad Guadalupe Victoria, Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico on August 25, 1935, to Jesus Tijerina and Maximiana Esquivel. Mom was the second child of a large loving family; siblings Cristobal, Hortencia, Everardo, Alicia, Minerva, Jesus, Ma Del Rosario, San Juana and Roberto. Mom was raised in an era when education was secondary to helping with chores and raising a family and therefore only attended school to the 3rd grade. Mom married the love of her life, Sabas Gonzalez, on December 24, 1954. In 1960, seeking the American Dream, they moved to Hollister, CA. Despite her lack of education, she passed the citizenship examination and became a United States Citizen in 1998 (at the age of 63), aside from the birth of her children, this was one of the proudest moments in her life. She was also an avid gardener and had the most beautiful roses which adorned her home and were admired by many. Mom was a self-taught seamstress, she would make some incredible shirts, dresses, she even upholstered her brother-in-law’s 1963 Buick Rivera. The most adorned and beautiful dress she ever made was for her only daughter’s (Rosa Maria) quinceañera. We will miss our mom tremendously; she was our fortitude and always supported our aspirations. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Nuestra querida Madre, Guillermina "Mina" Tijerina González, falleció pacíficamente en el Hospital del Buen Samaritano en San José, CA. el 11 de marzo de 2022 a las 6:10 am. Mamá fue pre fallecida por su hijo Francisco y le sobreviven sus hijos, Sabas, Francisco, Arnulfo, Rosa María, José Armando y numerosos nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos. La familia era su vida y sus preciadas reunión, siempre estaba ansiosa por la próxima ocasión. Nació en Cuidad Guadalupe Victoria, Sabinas, Coahuila, México el 25 de agosto de 1935, hija de Jesús Tijerina y Maximiana Esquivel. Mamá era la segunda hija de una gran familia amorosa; hermanos Cristóbal, Hortencia, Everardo, Alicia, Minerva, Jesús, Ma Del Rosario, San Juana y Roberto. Mamá se crió en una época en que la educación era secundaria para ayudar con las tareas domésticas y criar una familia y, por lo tanto, solo asistía a la escuela hasta el 3er grado. Mamá se casó con el amor de su vida, Sabas González, el 24 de diciembre de 1954. En 1960, buscando el sueño americano, se mudaron a Hollister, CA.
