John was my landlord (1550 Gabilan dr. Apt. #1) for a little under 20 yrs. He was also my friend and my mentor when it came to home repair.. He taught me everything I would ever need to know when I finally owned my own home as I do now.. I think of him all the time as I'm cussing some plumbing problem or when the roof leaked.. lol But I also think of him when I'm planting my daffodils and tulips in my own yard <3 :) I don't know how old he was, but maybe 70'ish and he would tie a rope around his waist and to the tree he wanted to trim! I can't tell you how many times I called into work saying I had to stay home so I could keep an eye on John while he trimmed the trees! When I moved in in 1989, John made it very clear there were to be NO PETS... Well, a cat adopted me and I HID that cat from John for over 10 years... lol All of my neighbors knew to call me if they ever saw my cat in the window and saw John in the yard... LOL Then one day we had new tenants move in up stairs and I see TWO CATS in their window! I asked John what the deal was with that and he casually just said, yeah they have cats.. you can have one... OMG! My poor little cat had been scolded soooooooo many times to get out of the window sills so much over the years, that he didn't even get on one when I said the coast is finally clear.. lol John could be a cranky sob, but he was my sob, I understood him and I loved him.. He was my friend.. RIP with your beloved wife and the tulips <3
