Obituary of Samuel G. Marcus

Samuel Grover Marcus died peacefully on October 19, 2021, he was 89. Sam grew up on the family cattle ranch in Hollister, California, graduating from Hollister High School. Being very involved with 4-H lead to his being the president of the local 4-H Council, and helping to start what is now our local 4-H and FFA Livestock Auction. He was also involved with the Hollister FFA chapter, being named honorary chapter farmer. Being a local rancher, he was also honored to be the president of the San Benito neighbors brand calves or cutting and baling hay. He will be missed by all who know and loved him. Sam is preceded in passing by his parents, Grover and Laura Marcus; and his sister, Jean Ackerman. Sam is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Marcus (Casillas) of Hollister; his son Ray Marcus of Hollister; his son and daughter-in-law John and Deborah Marcus of Lakeview, Oregon; his grandson, Jason Marcus of Lakeview, Oregon; plus many nieces and nephews. Private Cremation with private family interment. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. No formal services are planned at this time.
