Obituary of Helen L. Frusetta

Helen L. Frusetta passed away on August 31, 2021 in Tempe, Arizona at the age of 100. Born in Hollister, she was the daughter of Joseph and Lena Fontes. Raised in Southside, Helen attended local schools and graduated from Hollister High School in 1938. Helen worked in offices in Hollister, San Francisco, Sacramento and San Jose. She was the office manager of Dr. Leland Blanchard of San Jose for 25 years. Upon retirement, Helen returned to Hollister where she was a volunteer with the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxiliary. In 1998, she moved to the retirement community of Friendship Village in Tempe, Arizona, where she was an active member of her community. An avid traveler, Helen traveled to Europe, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand and places throughout the United States. A trip of a lifetime was when she visited Fayal, Azores Islands, the birthplace of her father. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Joe Fontes, George Fontes, Gene Fontes, and her sisters: Evelyn Frusetta and Lorraine Dooling. Helen is survived by her nieces: Sharon Hopingardner, Toni Salyer, Gemma Grossi, and Denise Prindiville; her nephews: Joe Frusetta, Jerry Fontes, Tim Dooling, Craig Dooling, and her brother-in-law Willis Dooling. As per Helen’s wishes, no funeral services will be held and private inurnment will be in the Fontes Family plot at Calvary Cemetery.
