Leandra H. Ruiz passed away in San Jose, California on August 19th, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Leandra “Lea” Ruiz, of Hollister, California, entered Heaven’s gate on August 19, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. She was born to the late Vincent & Caroline Nevarez, March 31, 1933, in Santa Paula, California. Her family moved to San Jose, California, where she worked at Hart’s Department Store for many years while raising her three children as a single mother. She was selfless and devoted to her children. One day a friend introduced her to the love of her life, Tony Ruiz. They fell in love instantly and married after a short courtship. They created a beautiful life together in Hollister, California. They loved to travel, take cruises, and go on many family camping trips. Lea’s warm and loving home was the center of every holiday where her blended family shared the holidays together. The love she had for her family was the purest love you would ever know. Lea opened her heart to everyone she met and was always surrounded by friends. Lea is survived by her sons: Tony Ruiz (Sue); David Ruiz; Raymond Ruiz; Richard Haynes; Robert Ruiz. Her daughters: Gloria Dunn (Pat); Helen Dennis (AJ); and Margaret Haynes Butts. She is also survived by her brother Vincent Nevarez; sister Roselinda Nevarez; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her soulmate, Tony Ruiz. They had a long and happy marriage and she remained devoted and in love with him until the time of her passing. She is also preceded in death by her daughter Frances LeDoux and sister Martha Nevarez. Visitation will be on Monday, August 30th, 2021 at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, August 31st, family and friends will meet at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of the Resurrection. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Due to Covid, there will be no reception following the funeral services.
