Obituary of Joseph Guerrero
Joseph A. Guerrero passed away on June 11, 2021 at Sutter Health Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, California at the age of 69.
Joseph “Joe” was born in Hanford, Ca. His family moved to Paicines, Ca in spring of 1967 with his mother (Rachel) and brother Michael. He graduated San Benito High School in 1970.
At the age of 19 he married Arazeli Rodriguez and had two children. He worked at Nob Hill for 30 years making many lifelong friends. Joe was the drummer of the group “Night Lighters” who often played at different local venues on the weekends.
In July 1985 he married Sue Newton and had two children. After retiring from Nob Hill, he became a Campus Supervisor at San Benito High School. As a Campus Supervisor he became a mentor, friend and confidant to many students. In 1983, while riding his motorcycle he was hit by a semi-truck which left his right leg shattered below his knee; the doctors told him he wouldn’t be able to walk again. He worked hard to prove them wrong by not only walking again but also joining the gym and became an accomplished bodybuilder.
In 2012 his hard work and perseverance paid off and he was crowned Mr. California for the over-60 National Physique Competition. One of the more enjoyable times of his life he spent with his family camping and fishing. Many people knew Joe as a kind hearted and generous man.
He is survived by his brothers Gabby Estrada, and Michael Guerrero (Austin, Tx), his uncle Frank “Pepe” Flores (Fillmore, CA), his children Joseph “Jo-Jo” Guerrero Jr (Kristin Guerrero), Jenaya Botelho (Michael Botelho), Steven Guerrero and Jennifer Holguin (Jimmy Holguin) his grandkids Alina Ruiz (Erik Ruiz), Alyssa Guerrero, Joey Guerrero, Caitlin Guerrero, Leah Guerrero, Lexie Hernandez, Evan Lopez, Brooklyn Botelho, Noah Holguin, his great grandkids Caidyn Carter, Kaia Ruiz, Ayla Ruiz and Mika Ruiz.
