Obituary of Theresa C. Stillwell

Theresa C. Stillwell passed away in Hollister, California on June 12th, 2021 at the age of 102 years. Born Theresa Carmen Gonzales, February 27, 1919 in Monterey California to Eugene Gonzales of Gilicia Spain and Casilda “Casey” Casas Gonzales of Mugardos Spain in La Carunia. Theresa was married to Homer Stillwell in Monterey California and they had five children, Infant Theresa Stillwell, Marylou Stillwell Printz, Elizabeth Stillwell Duranty, Gerald Stillwell (Virginia), Linda Stillwell Boomer (Richard). Theresa along with Homer helped raised her two brothers Eugene Gonzales and Joseph Gonzales when their parents passed away at an early age. She was fondly known as “Nanny” by her family, grandchildren and friends. she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and cousins from the Monterey area. Theresa graduated from Gavilan college in Nursing and worked at Driftwood Convalescent home in Gilroy and Wheeler Hospital. She was very active in the Catholic Church, serving on many boards, and served as president of Catholic Ladies Aide Society at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gilroy and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hollister, Theresa was a Sponsor to many for Confirmation into the Catholic Religion, she was an advocate to the Council on aging. Theresa is preceded in death by her husband Homer Stillwell, her infant daughter Theresa, and daughter Mary Lou, and her brother Eugene Gonzales, her grandchildren Jim Bunnell, Teddy Bunnell, Jerry Bunnell and Jack Bunnell. Theresa leaves behind her grandchildren; Joey Bunnell (Debbie), Bonnie Bunnell Stephens (Ron), Jaydeen Kerly, Peter Tuomala, Kirsten Tuomala Lier (Bill), Adam Tuomala, Monica Stillwell Spar (Rick), Caroline Stillwell, Rebecca Stillwell Wilkinson, Tracy Wayne Boomer (Robert), Michelle Anna Boomer Miracle, Mishel Boomer Thomas (Wayne). Great grandchildren: Dacoda Miracle, Nathan Thomas, Nikolas Thomas, Jessica Tuomala, Levi Tuomala, Mariah Tuomala, Alia Spar, Shane Spar, Jacob Levja; and Lexi, Carson, and Austin Wilkinson. “My Mom would always say” I Dios Mio Paciencia: translation “God, give me patience.” Andale Pues, translation: “I must be going” And with grace she left to go to heaven, mom you are a treasure we love you. A memorial services will be held at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Covid Rules will apply.
