On June 1, 2021 heaven gained an angel. After a tough and courageous battle with brain cancer, Iris Marali Estrada passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 32. Iris was born August 5, 1988 in Hollister, California. Battling this terrible disease was a journey for Iris that began in 2011 when she suffered a seizure that she later learned was because of a grade 2 benign tumor in her brain. Surgery was performed to remove it, however, because of where it was located in her brain, only 90% of it was removed. She returned to some normality as the intense headaches and migraines went away so this made it possible for Iris to go about her life continuing to focus on Juan, Maya and Mila Years later in 2018, the intense headaches and migraines returned prompting her to schedule the soonest appointment to get an MRI. Doctors shared the devastating news that the tumor had grown back at a stage 4 glioblastoma. Through painful brain surgeries, endless rounds of chemo and other treatments, Iris remained positive and determined to fight for her life for her family, particularly her daughters. Being a mom was her calling in life. Her daughters were what kept her in the most positive of spirits despite all the pain her entire body was in and not to mention, through the emotional turmoil of this disease. Iris was a true warrior. Besides being an amazing mother, Iris was undoubtedly a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile and laughter filled any room she entered, leaving an impression on everyone she crossed paths with during her 32 years of life. Further, her kindness and love for her family and friends was second to none. Losing Iris is a devastating loss but her legacy will live on forever. Iris is survived by her devoted husband Juan Zendejas; children: Maya Zendejas and Mila Zendejas; parents: Albertina and Hector Funes; siblings: Angela Vielman-Tracy, Alfred and Ricardo Regalado. Iris is further survived by her nephew’s Kayden and Lucas Tracy; brother-in-law Micah Tracy; sister’s-in-laws Venus Matuk and Minerva Razo and numerous cousins, uncles and aunts. God has her in His arms, and we have her in our hearts forever. *** Please wear something yellow or purple to the service *** If you wish to make a monetary donation for her daughter’s Maya and Mila, Please refer to the link listed to make a donation: GoFundMe page set up here: https://gofund.me/46406fd4.
