Obituary of Chan Mei Burns

Chan Mei (Chen) Burns, age 72, died peacefully Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at her home in Hollister, CA. Her husband of 50 years, James Christopher Burns was at her side. Born October 1, 1948 in Taipei, Taiwan, she was the daughter of the late A Ban and Da Na Chen. In addition to being a Navy wife, she was retired as a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) having serviced 35 years at various commands worldwide. Her career culminated at the Naval Postgraduate School. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Additional survivors include: two sons, Robert Don (Christine) Burns of Salinas, CA and John Joseph (Betsy) Burns of New Market, MD; three grandchildren, Josie, Wyatt, and Gabby (Shelley Smith); one brother, Wan Pin Chen of Taipei, Taiwan; and one sister, Ze Han Chen of Taipei, Taiwan. A private cremation is scheduled and a public celebration of life service is being planned.
