Obituary of William Anthony Carreiro

William Anthony "Bill" Carreiro passed away at his Hollister residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, October 15th, 2017 at the age of 87 years.

Bill was born in Stockton, California and raised in Hollister. He began raising milk cows as a teenager, later owning his own dairy. He continued in the cattle industry his entire life. His Belgian horses and the wagons they pulled became a passion that he shared with family, friends and the entire community.

Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Isabelle; his grandsons Jim and Mark (Lindsey) Carreiro;  great-grandchildren Mason and Miranda Carreiro; step-sons John, Rick (Karie), Daniel (Karen), Ray (Chris Gonzales) and step-daughter Janet (Sami) Hindiyeh. His family also included grandchildren John and Matthew Gonzales, Audra (Gabriel) Carrasco, Dena (Dustin) O’Dell, Amanda and Ricky Gonzales, Nicole and David (Ami) Gonzales, Kristen (Bryan) Jarecky, Kaitlyn Hindiyeh and Nathan (Krista) Liu. He also has six additional great-grandchildren: John Gonzales, Keanu O’Dell, and Logan, Parker, Warren and Gretalyn Liu.

Also surviving Bill are his Carreiro cousins: George, Danny, David, Bobby, Benny, Joey, Mike and Joanie and their children.

He was preceded in death by his sons Jim (survived by Julie) and Randy Carreiro; grandson Tony Carreiro; nephews Brian and Tommy and niece Judy.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 18th, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.

On Thursday, October 19th, family and friends will meet at 1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of the Resurrection. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
