Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eileen Mary Robbins-Santos left this earthly realm on December 31st, 2023, at 5:58 pm, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was 81 years old. Her husband, Julio, had predeceased her by one year in Puerto Rico. Her son, Robert Quijano, had predeceased her by 1 year the same month in Puerto Rico. She was born in Brooklyn, New York (August 31st, 1942) and was married at 16 years old. She quit school, but only later to return and get her G.E.D. and go onto to get her associate degree in Religious Studies and her license in cosmetology. She taught religious instructions twice a week at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx. Although she was 100% Irish (thick and thin), she spoke Puerto Rican Spanish like a native. Hailing from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, she socialized a lot in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn with her sister, Pat (Patricia A. Robbins Fennell also predeceased her by 11 years). Her only other sister, Deborah Robbins also predeceased by many years. She had lived in Puerto Rico for over 15 years and eventually moved in with her last surviving son, Michael Quijano in California. She recently had just moved into senior housing. She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Chau, their children, Ariana and Antonio. Also, by her grandchildren, Julio, Angie, Christina and Tiana. She also survived by her sister Pat’s children, Terry Fennell Russo, Timothy Fennell, Bill Fennell and Kelly Vermette. She is being cremated at Grunnagles Funeral Home in Hollister, California. A memorial will be held sometime in the future for her, Julio and Robert. For now, we raise our glasses in the Irish style and toast “those we love never go away”!
