Harvey Dwain Price passed away on October 14, 2023. He was born on May 19, 1935 in Indio, California to Homer and Ruby Price, while on their journey from Oklahoma to California. The family settled in San Benito County when Harvey was six months old, on the Swanson Ranch. The families have enjoyed generational friendship. Harvey attended Southside School, and graduated from San Benito High School in 1953. The family moved to Tres Pinos when Harvey was in High School. Growing up, he worked on the Swanson Ranch, at the hay and grain barns in Tres Pinos and at George Kincaid's Pinnacle's Garage in Tres Pinos, where Jeeps were sold and maintained. Harvey enjoyed Jeeps his entire life. Harvey married Norma Madruga of Tres Pinos in 1957, they celebrated their 66th anniversary on August 2nd. He served in the National Guard during the 1950's. Harvey worked for McCormick-Selph (now Pacific Scientific) after marriage, the cannery in Hollister, then went to work for Almaden Vineyards in maintenance. He retired from the winery in Paicines in 2001. Harvey's life long hobbies were hunting, fishing and shooting, he enjoyed these activities until last year. He also enjoyed growing a vegetable garden every year. He was an avid San Francisco Giants fan, as well as a San Francisco 49er fan. Harvey enjoyed camping through the early years, and the family cabin in Mi-Wuk Village in later years. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and BBQ's with family and friends Harvey is survived by his wife Norma, children Gary Price and Jeanette Price Maroney, her husband Kerry, granddaughter Mary Rowen, her husband Jeb, great-grandchildren Craig and Carlie Rowen, all of Tres Pinos, and honorary granddaughter Tess Kelly of Irvine, California. He is also survived by his brother, Ed Price and his wife Terry of Hollister, his sister Carolyne Smith of Six Mile, South Carolina, numerous nieces and nephews including Duane Smith and several cousins. Harvey enjoyed visiting and celebrating holidays with Frank Chavez and family, Frank made so many special trips to Tres Pinos for appreciated haircuts. He enjoyed friends Larry Renfrow and Gil Angulo, who always visited and called to the end. Harvey especially appreciated visits and sweet treats from his niece, Shelly Price Manning, phone calls with his treasured sister, and visiting, hunting and fishing with his brother. The family extends special thanks and gratitude to the staff at Clearview Care Home and Bonita Springs Hospice Care. Per Harvey's wishes, services will be private. The family extends an invitation to family and friends to join us for a Celebration of Life for Harvey on Sunday, October 29th, noon, 351 Bolado Road, Tres Pinos. Tri-tip BBQ will be served.
