Clara Crowe Obituary

Clara Filice Crowe passed away April 16, 2026 at the age of 83.


Clara was born December 11th 1942 in Piane Crati, Italy to Luigi and Teresa Filice. They had always had a dream of coming to America. In 1957 they took their family of three daughters and set off landing in Hamilton Ontario Canada. The family spent three years there and made their way to America where they put lifelong roots in Hollister California in 1960.


Clara always had a passion for hairstyles and made cosmetology her life's passion. She was a graduate of Salinas beauty college. In the spring of 1964 Clara fulfilled her dream of opening and owning her own beauty salon. She was a pioneer in her small town of Hollister as the first all female owned beauty salon. She was very proud of her accomplishment. Her salon was named Cinderella Coifures a full-service salon. By the mid 1980s and many Vidal Sassoon beauty shows later she made a decision to enlarge her business to include one of the towns first tanning salons with state-of-the-art tanning beds she also brought in a couple of manicurist to do at that time all new acrylic nails and with all that she gave her beauty shop a new name she was now C.C. and Company that brought her dream to fulfillment. She was a special hair stylist she wasn't just their stylist she became lifelong friends with her "ladies" as she would call them. In the 1990s Clara decided she wanted a little more excitement in her life. She started moonlighting as a bartender at Michelino's and Shooters in Hollister. She had the time of her life enjoying all life had to offer her.


Clara's greatest accomplishments was her children Carol Leonard of Tennessee and her son Kenny Crowe Jr of Hollister.

Clara is survived by her daughter Carol Leonard of Tennessee whom will carry her memory forward. Her grandchildren Robert Leonard of Tennessee, Sarah Leonard of Tennessee. Her great granddaughters Jadelynn Garcia and Olivia Leonard of Gilroy, and Izabella Thompson of Tennessee. Her sister Mary Righetti(Robert) Goddaughter Anne Righetti Nixon, her niece Kimberly Mello who devoted the last 10 years to making sure Clara was taken care of until her last breath was taken. They spent many days cooking laughing just hanging out listening to Lou Monte and of course her Elvis (her beloved boyfriend) her nieces nephew, great nieces and nephew and of course her great great nieces and nephews whom she loved and enjoyed being with often. Clara always remained close with her cousins many of them who would come and check in on her often Julio Filice, Maria Grimsley and Jennifer Frusetta. Her lifelong friends Gloria lamonto. Her Beverly Caplette who stayed by her side till the end, and dear friend Terri Embry of more than 40 years.


Clara is preceded in death by her parents Luigi and Teresa Filice, sister Emma Filice Davis, her beautiful granddaughter Rya Leonard and her beloved son Kenny Crow Jr.


The family would like to thank all the caregivers through the years her special Carlene. Gloria, Stacy, Anna Marie,Terri and many more. The staff at Mabie Northside facility who loved and cared for her as family. Clara had a great sense of humor and was a "force of nature" who will be missed by all. Rest in peace now Chadina your work here on Earth is done. Till we all meet again.."Ciao Bella".
