Mary Ann Hindman Obituary

Mary Ann (Talbot) Hindman, a fifth-generation Hollister resident, passed away peacefully at her home on February 6, 2026, at the age of 68.

Mary was the fifth child and first daughter born to Joe and Barbara Talbot of Hollister. She attended San Benito High School, where she was a cheerleader, graduating in 1976. She later studied at the University of Portland and Chico State before marrying the love of her life, Gregg Hindman, in 1984. Together they shared 41 years of marriage and raised two daughters, Samantha and Alexandra, while living in Redding and later Bakersfield.

Mary worked in banking for 16 years and proudly helped open San Benito County Bank before joining her husband in running a local landscaping business. She loved being a mother, cooking for large family gatherings, and sending everyone home with leftovers. Many of her cherished family recipes can be found in “55 Years of Cooking,” written by her mother. Her specialties were cioppino and Christmas cookies. She was also a devoted 49ers and San Francisco Giants fan who enjoyed attending games with her family at Candlestick Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Barbara Talbot; her brother, Jim Talbot; and her nephew, Joel. She is survived by her husband Gregg Hindman; her daughters Samantha (Brian Gates) and Alexandra (Chris Riaski); her brothers Mark, Bert, and Charlie; her sister Liz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
