Obituary for David Floyd Rosati
David Floyd Rosati died peacefully just a few days before his 85th birthday on October 22, 2025 at the Arizona Veterans Hospital, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on October 26, 1940 at the Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister, California to David Ettore Rosati and Louise Paullus Rosati. He was their first child and the first grandchild of both the Rosati and Paullus families.
David attended local schools and graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary and San Benito High School. Just as his father and uncle had done before him, David joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1960. Upon completing his military service, David returned to Hollister to help his dad on their turkey farm and vineyards. Subsequent to that, he worked for Teledyne and Almaden Vineyards before moving to Utah, where he pursued his interests in hospitality and became the proprietor of a motel in Kanab, Utah. He ultimately sold that business and moved to Springerville, Arizona where he purchased a restaurant and it managed himself for a number of years. In 2020, he moved back to Hollister to assist his mother until her passing at the age of 104.
David enjoyed hunting, was an excellent marksman and was also skilled in archery. He bowled and played on many teams during his life. David also loved playing bingo and cards, with Keno being a favorite, and he enjoyed frequenting casinos from time to time, where he really enjoyed himself.
David was an outdoorsman. He loved being out in nature and was also an animal lover. He spent his early years involved in Future Farmers of America and raised cattle that he showed at the San Benito County Fair and the Cow Palace in San Francisco.
David is survived by his two sisters, Sharol Bernardo and Paula Lomanto; step-daughter, Ginger Newland; step-grandchildren, Sheena (Justin) Taylor and David Newland; step-great grandchildren, Trinity and Ella Taylor, who were all the light of his life. He is also survived by numerous cousins in San Benito County and out of state.
As per his wishes, David's ashes will be returned home and he will be interned at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery at Fort Ord. A celebration of life will be announced at a future date.
