Mrs. Carmelita!!!! you were the sweetest little lady when I met you at Northside. My husband JOSE (janitor) introduced us. He cared so much for you. you were always so happy and very welcoming to me when I would go visit. you always remembered who I was. I will miss going to see you sit on your brown recliner. I know you are resting now with your Husband and loved ones who have passed before you. May you rest easy, little lady. My condolences to your entire Family. your friend Jose and Evelyn Estrada

Carmelia was the first resident we met around 5 years ago, when our mother came to live at Mabie Northside. It was after we were all allowed to visit inside the facility after Covid.
We remember Carmelia greeting us with her walker directly opposite Mom's room. She had so much energy as she welcomed us to Mabie. Her sweet Portuguese accent was so adorable. We exchanged introductions and since then, my family feels honored to have been a friend to her and her loving family through the years.
Carmelia was a very strong, loving, and humorous lady with a true sense of family. Her daughter, Frances, was forever at her side, visiting her every day and constantly supporting the staff with her laughter, optimism, and sweet treats. Carmelia was definitely a wonderful role model and legacy to her loved ones.
We always considered the two rooms that Carmelia and our Mom occupied across the hall from each other as the "fun rooms in the dorm"! Given that Carmelia and our mother passed one day apart, we imagine the two of them walking hand in hand toward those pearly gates that we all strive for.
Rest in peace, dear Carmelia, and our thoughts and prayers to your family!
Love from,
Mark, Holly, and Reilly McBride
