Paul Anthony Hartnett, was born on September 18, 1951 in Oakland, California. He passed away on September 17, 2025 in Hollister, California at the age of 73. His life was well-lived. Paul left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and he will remain in the hearts of many.

Paul is preceded in death by his father, Dr. James P. Hartnett, mother, Shirley (Carlson) Hartnett, and younger brother, Dennis Hartnett. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Ann Logue, sons Pablo and Sean Hartnett, brothers Jim and David Hartnett, sister Carla Podrasky and several nephews and nieces. He cherished his family and spoke proudly of their roots in Ireland and Scandinavia. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, cinema and the culinary arts.

Above all, Paul was a dedicated and esteemed educator. He taught for years at Soledad Prison, as well as Santa Cruz, Salinas, and Watsonville High Schools. Paul touched the minds and souls of many through his steadfast belief that a proper education is the key to a more livable world. He was a man of impeccable ideals.

Paul was exceptionally well-versed in history, politics, literature, poetry and the sciences, in particular geology. He was truly a Renaissance Man, who loved to engage in an array of subjects. Paul was never at a loss for words. He was also very fond of humor and word play. Paul had a chuckle that brought merriment to all.

A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held on November 2, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Millennium Room at San Juan Oaks Golf Club, Hollister. The family kindly notes that the RSVP period has now closed. Interment will be private.
