Antonia Lopez Obituary

Antonia Lopez, known lovingly by so many as "Tota," passed away on September 17, 2025,

in Hollister, California. She was 76 years old. Born on June 12, 1949, in Tijuana, Baja

California, Mexico, Antonia lived a life defined by deep love, quiet strength, and an

extraordinary devotion to the children and families she touched along the way. She migrated

to San Diego, California at a young age with family.

Antonia was, above all else, a nurturer. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and

grandmother, and she wore each of those roles with grace and pride. She helped raise

countless children over the years, serving as a nanny to many and becoming a second mother

to kids who were not her own by birth but were absolutely her own by love. She had a

remarkable ability to foster an environment where children felt safe, seen, and free to grow.

Those who knew her respected her deeply, not only for her warmth but for her courage to

stand up for what was right. She mentored and guided many with a steady hand and an open

heart.

Her selflessness and unconditional love were matched by an unwavering loyalty to the people

she cared about. Antonia was resilient in her own quiet way, yet she had a gentle power that

captivated every child who crossed her path.

When she wasn't caring for others, Tota could often be found crocheting. She loved making

what the family affectionately called the "Nana-Ones," working her hooks and yarn while

carrying on a warm conversation. She took special joy in crocheting baby blankets, each one

stitched with the same tenderness she gave to everything she did.

Antonia is survived by her four sons, Jesus Romero (Jennifer), Tomas Lopez (Michelle),

Bernardo Hernandez Jr. (Tanya), and Ismael Hernandez, along with eight beloved

grandchildren and five cherished great-grandchildren.

Antonia was deeply devoted to her Christian faith, and that faith carried her through every

season of her life. Her family takes comfort in knowing she rests now in the arms of the Lord

she served so faithfully.

"Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and

blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now

and at the hour of our death. Amen."

A private celebration of life will be scheduled in the near future.
