Mercedes Torres (Meche) from Hollister, California passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 with her family by her side.

- Viewing & Rosary: Thursday, September 18, 2025 a slide show will be played from 3:00 PM- 5:30 PM and

A Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 PM with Father Carlos Warfield at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister.

- Funeral Mass: Friday, September 19, 2025 will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Hollister at 11:00 AM.

- Celebration of life reception will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Hollister.

Mercedes was born in Chicago, Illinois to Procopio Ortega & Maria Louisa Mendoza on September 24, 1931. She lived in Hollister, CA for many years and worked as a laborer for the Cannery for 15+ years. Mercedes was a social butterfly and loved to dance. She enjoyed being around family and friends. Mercedes was also a caring person who always extended a helping hand.

Mercedes is survived by her 2 children, Luis Torres and Mecheli Torres, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was the last of 7 siblings.

She will be missed by many and remembered by all the joy she brought to the world.
