
Obituary of Doris Isabel Jones
Doris Isabel Jones, 80, peacefully passed away on June 13, 2025.
Doris was born in Brooklyn, New York and, at age 2, moved with her family to San Mateo, CA. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Belmont, CA.
For many years, Doris enjoyed cooking, reading, playing bridge and tending to her wide variety of over 300 award winning Iris. She relished in weekend getaways with her beloved husband to the Monterey coast in their motorhome. Doris remembered fondly her many years at their cattle ranch in Paicines, CA hosting brandings and tending to their cattle, chickens, horses and she especially enjoyed bottle feeding an orphaned calf she named Jenny. Most recently, one of her favorite past times was staying up on local and world news specifically the state of the economy.
Doris will be remembered as a kind and generous friend and member of her Hollister Community where she resided since the early 1980s. She would regularly donate to local food banks and offer work to those in need.
Doris is survived by daughters, Melissa (Michael) Baumann, Carole (Bob) Brum; grandchildren, Robert and Lauren Brum; sister, Carole Lunny; brother-in-law Dr. Louis (Martha) Zanger; nieces and nephews, Monica (David) DeLong, Pamela (John) Fitzgerald, Steven (Dessie) Zanger and Matthew (Toni) Zanger, Patrick Oliver, Marisa (Mark) Panattoni, as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews, and her loving dog, Lucky.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 30 years, Robert E. Jones, parents Patrick and Isabel Lunny, sister Patricia Zanger, and beloved dogs Ten, Lady, Fritz and Buddy.
Doris will be fondly remembered by friends, neighbors and family. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos. A luncheon reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Community FoodBank of San Benito, or Second Harvest Food Bank.
