Obituary of Dorothy Marie Cook

Dorothy Marie Cook was born January 4, 1927, in Barron, Wisconsin. She was called home by the Lord on May 1, 2025 at 98 years old, in Hollister, California. Dorothy’s parents were Tracy Allan Dowd and Mabel Francis Steurer Dowd. She had 2 brothers: Henry Irving Dowd and Robert Dean Dowd and 3 sisters: Lila Mae Deutsch, Grace Francis Deutsch, and Barbara Ann Anderson. Dorothy was married to Ray Charles Cook, son of Ray Cook and Gertrude Lauritsen in 1944. They had 8 children. Dorothy Marie Cook was preceded in death by her husband Ray Charles Cook, her parents, her 2 brothers and 2 of her sisters, her son Samuel Cook, her daughter Debbie Cristobal, her granddaughter Kimberly Marie Cook, her granddaughter Nicole Marie Cristobal, and her granddaughter Holly Lane Stevens. Dorothy is survived by her sister Grace Deutsch, her daughter Jeannette Pendergrass and husband David; her daughter Katherine Henderson and husband Dana; her son Jimmy Cook Sr. and wife Lydia; her daughter Carol Stevens; her son Ray Cook Jr and wife Lola; son-in-law Anthony Cristobal; and her daughter Cheryl Hinton and husband Stephen. Dorothy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Dorothy Marie Cook loved the Lord with all her heart. She became a Christian in 1956. She had numerous jobs over her lifetime including housekeeping, cleaning doctors’ offices, and working at the Cambridge company. She also taught kindergarten at Monterey Bay Christian School (MBCS) and then became the secretary at MBCS in Seaside, California, until she retired at 80 years old in 2007. Dorothy loved her family with all her heart and was happiest when her family was with her. Dorothy Marie Cook will always be loved, remembered, and missed. We are thankful for the Christian legacy she left for us.
