Fedele Scornaienchi

Obituary of Fedele Scornaienchi

Beloved husband and father, Fedele Scornaienchi, 87 years old, of Hollister, California, passed away on April 13, 2025 in his home. Fedele was born in Piane Crati, Cosenza, Italy to Barbara Mauro and Pasquale Scornaienchi on April 28, 1937. In Italy Fedele graduated as a draftsman, and worked his craft until he immigrated to the United States on December 3,1962 to marry his love RoseAnn Felice. He assisted his in-laws in running the Hollister Drive In Market, their family grocery store. Later in life he was a sales representative for an Italian Food and Wine company. Fedele had a love of friends, family, and community, becoming a member of the Son’s of Italy, Hollister Elks Club, Italian Catholic Federation, Italian Heritage Club of Monterey, and the Men’s Gourmet Club. He was often seen on the sports fields of soccer and baseball where he coached not only for his son, but other friends and family member’s children as well, as he played soccer most of his young life, and loved sports. A devout Catholic since childhood, Fedele found inspiration and comfort in his Catholic faith, and was a regular attendee at The Immaculate Conception Church in Tres Pinos. He had a passion for driving his 1970 Alpha Romeo Spyder, aka ‘The Silver Bullet,’ as he often ‘mistook’ roadways for the race track! He was often present at the Laguna Seca Raceway, cheering on his favorite drivers. Fedele was loved by all, being described as “the life of the party,” “effervescent,” “passionate,” “generous,” “bold,” always holding a soft spot for family, friends, and his beloved Italy. Anyone who knew him was sure to be invited over for a homemade dish of pasta, a wonderful bottle of Italian wine, his poetic prose, good conversation, his great sense of humor, and his engaging personality. He delighted in nature, walking through the mountains, road trips, music, theater, soccer, and of course, partaking in the delicacies of food and wine. Neighbors could often hear his shouting while watching his Napoli team play soccer, or his loud expressions of joy during his weekly phone connections with family in Italy. Fedele’s favorite expression spoken always was “la vita e bella,” a beautiful legacy to follow. Fedele is survived by his wife RoseAnn Felice Scornaienchi of Hollister, his daughter AngelaRose Scornaienchi of Hollister, son Pasquale Scornaienchi of England, his son-in-law Dan Everett, daughter-in-law Eva Racconella, grandchildren Nicholas Scornaienchi, Maximilan Everett, Nathanael Everett, and Sabryna Scornaienchi, brothers Fausto Scornaienchi and Giancarlo Scornaienchi, sisters Teresa Marrazzo, Maria Scornaienchi, Silvana Scornaienchi, and Carmela Scornaienchi all of Piane Crati, Italy, along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.
