Obituary of Kenneth David Halla
Kenneth David Halla - Ken, 75 of San Juan Bautista, California, passed away on April 12, 2025, in Los Altos Sub-Acute and Rehabilitation Center.
Ken was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Adeline and Albert Halla on June 11, 1949. He graduated from Magnolia High in Anaheim, California, in 1967 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Cal State Long Beach. Ken married his wife, Valerie, on July 24, 1971, in Fullerton, California. He worked as a teacher/principal at Pacific Valley School for six years and was vice principal at San Juan Elementary and Principal at Aromas School for many more.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, volunteering, and working with San Juan Bautista Historical Society and My Carmel Oral History Project. He will be remembered for his handsome smile, dry sense of humor, and gentle demeanor.
Ken enjoyed cooking special holiday dishes like Pierogis, Polish sausage, kolacky and bread dumplings.
He also liked relaxing in his easy chair looking at stock charts and watching the Cubs play baseball.
Ken is survived by his wife of 53 years, Valerie, of San Juan Bautista and his two brothers, Allan Halla and Paul Halla and children Matthew Halla, Morgan Halla and Caitlin Halla, son in law Sam Thirlwall and grandchildren Everett and Amelia Thirlwall, as well as many nieces and nephews.
