Obituary of Rose Marie Bianchi
Rose Marie Bianchi went by many names: Rose, Mom, Grandma, Rosemary, or Rose Marie. However you addressed her, we all knew her, always filled with love for her family and friends. Whatever you needed: a homemade treat, a ride to an event, a Pedro partner, a seamstress, or a cheerleader in your corner, she was there!
Born August 9, 1944, in Watsonville, California, to proud parents, Manuel and Rose Cardoza. Rose Marie and her siblings were raised on the family dairy and were active in their Portuguese culture. She served in the royal court at many Festas representing the I.S.T.W. of Watsonville. Soon after graduating from Watsonville High School, Rose Marie met and married the love of her life, Gary Bianchi.
Rose Marie moved to Gary’s family dairy on Lovers Lane in Hollister. There they raised their three boys, ran a successful business, watched their six grandchildren grow, and retired together. Rose Marie was an avid volunteer in her community, donating her time to Spring Grove School, Hollister FFA, Hollister Band Boosters, as a leader in 4-H, and judging baked goods at the San Benito County Fair. She was also a member of San Benito County CattleWomen. Rose Marie worked at Anderson’s Chiropractic for years once the boys had left the home to begin families of their own.
Rose Marie and Gary were married for 60 years. Together, they enjoyed square dancing, traveling the world, attending Pedro parties, and celebrating their family and friends. Rose Marie was an extremely talented seamstress. She turned this talent into a small business selling homemade crafts and treasures. She was also well known for her preserves and baked goods, which she would share during the holidays. Spending time in the kitchen with her grandchildren and passing these talents on to them were some of her favorite pastimes.
On March 20th, embraced by family, Rose Marie passed away to join Gary in heaven. She is survived by her sons Richard (Tiffany), Robert (Chris), and Rodney (Kelly). Her legacy continues further through her adored grandchildren: Erica (Steven) Pirnik, Juli, Hannah, Emma (Will) Corn, Mitchell (Katrina), John (Tiffany), and Abby. Rose Marie was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Mila Pirnik, and a great-grandson, Royce Bianchi. She is also survived by her brother, Manuel (Kathy) Cardoza, sisters, Linda (Bob) Erbe, and Amy (Brad) Johnston. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We will celebrate Rose Marie, 12:00, June 1st at Hollister Elks Lodge. In place of flowers, The Bianchi Family Scholarship Fund has been established at the Community Foundation for San Benito County.
