Obituary of Isidra B. Serrano

In Loving Memory of Isidra “Sheila” Serrano May 23, 1945 – March 11, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Isidra “Shiela” Serrano, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Shiela passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 11, 2025. Shiela was born on May 23, 1945, in San Ignacio, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Juana and Santiago Bustillos. She made her way to the United States as a teenager, where she later met the love of her life, Roberto A. Serrano. They were married on June 22, 1968, in Hollister, California, and shared a loving partnership for many years. Shiela worked for over 30 years at a local cannery before retiring, dedicating herself to her family and her passions. She was known for her love of gardening, cooking weekly Thursday dinners for her family, and enjoying trips to the casinos. Shiela found joy in spending time with her loved ones, shopping, dancing, and listening to music. Shiela is survived by her devoted husband, Roberto A. Serrano; her daughters, Elizabeth Quezada (Honorio), Rosalie Betancourt (Richard), Christie Hernandez (Cesar), and Ruby Gutierrez (Juan Jr.); 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Shiela is also survived by 6 siblings and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly. Shiela was preceded in death by her daughter, Silvia Serrano; her parents, Juana and Santiago Bustillos; her grandson (consentido), Juan Gutierrez III; and her brothers, Emanuel Bustillos, Alfred Bustillos, Jose Bustillos, and Salvador Bustillos. Shiela’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories will continue to inspire us all. Funeral Service: Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1200 Fairview Rd., Hollister, CA. Burial: Following the service at 12:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery, 1100 Hillcrest Rd., Hollister, CA.
