Juan Gutierrez III Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Juan Gutierrez III, who gained his wings on February 27, 2025, at the young age of 26. Juan passed suddenly at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA, following unexpected medical complications after being diagnosed with leukemia. In his final hours, he was surrounded by the love and support of numerous family members and friends.


Juan is survived by his loving parents, Juan Gutierrez Jr. and Ruby Gutierrez (Serrano); his siblings, Deandra, Isabella, and Andrew Gutierrez; his fur babies Bear & Harley; his maternal grandparents, Robert & Isidra Serrano; and his paternal grandmother, Maria Esther Gutierrez. He is also deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Juan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Juan Gutierrez; his uncle, John Gutierrez; and his aunt, Silvia Serrano.


Born on July 16, 1998, at Hazel Hawkins Hospital in Hollister, CA, Juan grew up with a passion for sports, community, and making memories with loved ones. He graduated from Minot University in North Dakota in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.


Juan lived life to the fullest and was known for his infectious energy, humor, and ability to bring joy to those around him. He was a devoted son, brother, and friend who always showed up for the people he loved. Whether attending music festivals, running, or embracing new adventures, Juan made the most of every moment.


Deeply rooted in the Hollister community, Juan dedicated much of his life to athletics and mentorship. As a youth, he participated in Razorback & Warrior wrestling, Vikings football, Hollister Little League, and Baler cross country, track & field, and wrestling. His passion for running carried him through collegiate programs at Hartnell College, San Jose State, and Minot University. After returning to his hometown, Juan gave back by coaching wrestling, track & field, and cross country for the same teams that shaped him. His impact on young athletes and his dedication to his community will be forever remembered.

•Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 520 College St., Hollister, CA.


•Burial: Following the service at 12:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery, 1100 Hillcrest Rd., Hollister, CA.


Juan’s kindness, love for life, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will forever be cherished. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.
