Ronald James LaPorte Obituary

Ronald James LaPorte, known as Jack, was born in Watsonville, CA on August 8, 1934 and passed away at the age of 90 on February 6, 2025 in Hollister, CA. Jack attended grade school at Sacred Heart School and graduated from San Benito Joint Union High School in Hollister. He married Sheila McClure on February 15, 1958 and they shared a life together until Sheila’s passing in 2010. Jack worked for the City of Hollister in the Public Works Department until his retirement. A passionate lover of fishing, golf and the outdoors, Jack was deeply influenced by the early years he spent with his grandparents, Jimmy and Mary Ramoni at the Quien Sabe ranch. Together, Jack and Sheila made many lifelong friendships through their kindness and easy-going nature, and they will be greatly missed by those who knew them. Jack is survived by his four children: Suzanne Darr of West Bountiful, Utah; Kathleen Westphal of Bluffton, South Carolina; Julie Davies of Hollister, CA and Jim La Porte of San Ramon, CA. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Cremation services provided by Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.
