Obituary of Tonya Covarrubias
Tonya Covarrubias, a devoted nurse, loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away on January 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and warmth. Born on July 8, 1978, Tonya’s dedication to caring for others extended beyond her profession—she touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering courageous spirit.
Tonya’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her with love and strength through every challenge. She was a fun-loving, free spirit who brought joy to everyone around her. With her infectious laughter and adventurous soul, she could light up any room.
Tonya lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and love. Her warmth, faith, and adventurous spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her dedication to caring for others, both as a nurse and in her personal life, will be remembered as a true testament to the beautiful soul she was.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Abel Adam Covarrubias Arteaga; her beloved daughter, Anissa Marie Dingle, her mother, Alma Hernandez; her sisters, Starr Hernandez and Joeanna Hernandez.
She leaves behind her cherished dogs, Nachito and Lolita, as well as the Herd on the Farm.
Services to honor Tonya’s life will be held at Grunnagle Funeral Home in Hollister. A viewing will take place on Tuesday, February 4th, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Rosary starting at 5:30 PM. A Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, at 11:00 AM at St. Benedict's Church. Burial will follow on Thursday, February 6th.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to any local animal charity of choice. Tonya’s great love for animals made this a cause close to her heart. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of God and reunited with the loved ones who went before her and her heavenly children Judith and Patricia.
