Obituary of Leon Moscoso

Please share a memory of Leon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Leon Moscoso died peacefully in his hometown of San Juan Bautista on Tuesday September 12, 2017.

Leon spent much of his early years in San Juan Bautista attending San Juan Elementary and San Benito High School before joining the Army where he would be stationed in Germany. Once discharged from the Army, Leon would find himself living on the Rocky Boy Reservation in Montana where he relished his Native American culture.

Leon would move on to work and retire in Chico CA before returning home to San Juan Bautista. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, dancing, playing the guitar and attending Pow wows, as he was most proud of his Native American heritage.

Leon is survived by his daughters Yvonne Rodriguez and Lorraine Casas; siblings Lenore Fleisher, Terry Moscoso, Tommy Moscoso, Marci Sumii and Dennis and Paul Rania; grandchildren Jaime Rodriguez, Darlene Gonzalez, Vanessa Rodriguez, Amanda Gonzalez, Chuy Rodriguez and lifelong friend Vince Hernandez along with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marcelino and Lily Rania and his life partner Mary Ramirez.

A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, September 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. A special service will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be on Wednesday, September 20th at 11:00 a.m. at San Juan Bautista District Cemetery.
